FAQ & policies

Questions? Good. We love those.

Straight answers about pricing, equipment, monitoring, and how visits work. Still wondering about something? Just ask.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell equipment?

No. You buy your devices wherever you like, such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, or the brand’s website. Not sure what to buy? Tell us on the booking form and we’ll recommend compatible options before you spend a dime.

Do you provide alarm monitoring?

No. We’re installers and setup helpers, not a monitoring company. If you want professional monitoring (like Ring Protect or SimpliSafe monitoring), you sign up directly with the provider. We’re happy to help you understand the options and set up the app.

Which brands do you work with?

Most often eufy, Reolink, Ring, SimpliSafe, Arlo, and Google Nest, plus most mainstream smart-home devices (Alexa, Google Home, smart locks, TVs, routers, and more). If you’re not sure, ask! We’ll confirm compatibility before the visit.

Are you affiliated with those brands?

No. We’re an independent Connecticut business. That keeps our advice honest.

Do your prices include cameras and devices?

No. All our prices are for installation and setup labor only. Equipment is not included: you buy your own cameras, doorbells, locks, and other devices (Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, or the brand’s website all work). Not sure what to get? Tell us on the booking form and we’ll help you pick the right ones to purchase before the visit.

How does pricing work?

Our posted prices are starting estimates for installation and setup labor only; equipment is not included. Every visit has a $39 minimum (one address per visit). We confirm the final scope and price with you before work begins. Hardwired installs add $50 per device.

What’s the $39 visit minimum?

It covers our trip to one address. If your services add up to more than $39, you just pay for the services. If it’s a quick job, the minimum applies.

What if something takes longer or turns out different on the day?

We’ll stop and talk to you first. No surprise charges.

Do I need to be home?

Yes, an adult (18+) needs to be there for the visit, and we’ll need your Wi-Fi password and access to the device accounts (or we’ll help you create them).

Whose name are the accounts in?

Yours. Always. We never keep your passwords after the visit, and we can walk you through changing any you shared with us.

Do you offer extra help for seniors?

Yes. That’s what our Senior & Family Tech Concierge is for: patient setup, large-print cheat sheets, and check-in visits when you need them.

I rent. Can you still help?

Yes. Our Renter-Friendly No-Drill Kits use adhesive mounts, plug-in devices, and over-the-lock smart locks. We’ll always ask before making any hole.

Do you work with businesses?

Yes. See the Small-Business Security Starter. Larger or multi-site jobs are quoted.

What areas do you serve?

Connecticut: [ADD towns/counties]. Just ask if you’re nearby.

How do I pay?

We accept credit card, debit card, or Venmo. Payment is usually collected after the work is done, unless we’ve agreed on something different ahead of time.

Policies

Estimates & pricing

Posted prices are starting estimates, and the final price is confirmed before work begins. $39 minimum per visit, per address. Prices cover installation and setup labor only. Equipment, subscriptions, and monitoring are not included; you buy the devices, and we can help you choose.

Payment

We accept credit card, debit card, or Venmo. Payment is usually collected after the work is done, unless we’ve agreed on something different ahead of time.

Hardwired & complex work

Hardwired devices add $50 each. We don’t do work that requires a licensed electrician (new circuits, panel work). We’ll tell you if a job needs one.

Scheduling & cancellations

There’s no fee to cancel or reschedule. We just ask for a heads-up as early as you can, so we can offer the time to someone else.

Customer equipment

We install equipment you provide. Manufacturer warranties come from the manufacturer. We aren’t responsible for defective devices, but we’ll help you start a return or warranty claim.

Workmanship

If something we installed isn’t working because of our setup, contact us within [30] days and we’ll fix it at no charge.

Wall mounting

We’ll confirm mounting locations with you before drilling. Renters: please confirm you have permission to drill, or choose a no-drill option.

Recording & cameras

You’re responsible for following applicable laws on camera placement and audio recording. We’ll point out common considerations (for example, not aiming cameras at neighbors’ windows).

No monitoring, no emergency service

SmartHomeSync-CT does not monitor alarms or cameras and does not dispatch emergency services. In an emergency, call 911.
